CNTA is pleased to announce the start of the 2012 essay contest for high-school student scholarships.

The three winners of the 2011 scholarships were (alphabetically by surname): Richard Bragg (Grovetown High School), Sierra Hovet (Evans High School), and Sterling Tran (Lakeside High School).

The purpose of the CNTA Essay Contest is to promote a better understanding of nuclear technology among high school students. It also provides an incentive for the development of communication skills that are vital to those entering the workforce and American business.

2012 ESSAY CONTEST ARRANGEMENTS AND RULES

Choose from one of the following 3 topics:

• Nuclear Career Opportunities
• Industrial Uses of Nuclear Science and Technology that Affect Everyday Life
• Fact versus Fiction: How Media Reported on the Tsunami at the Fukushima Daichi Nuclear Plant

Criteria:

• 1000-1500 Word Essay
• Current high school junior or senior
• Attend school in Aiken, Richmond, or Columbia Counties in SC & GA
• One submittal per contestant
• No faxes accepted
• Electronic submittals preferred

Award:

• $1000 Student Scholarship for winning essay
• $500 award for winner's school

Essay Deadline February 29, 2012
