It is with great pleasure that Citizens for Nuclear Technology Awareness reports another great golf tournament this year! The tourney proceeded on Friday, May 6th at Houndslake Country Club in Aiken with 100 golfers, despite the early rains. Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services - Savannah River was again the primary sponsor.
Although early rains buffetted the course, rays of sunshine finally made their appearance. And the winners are: (!!!)
1st Place Team - With a score of 53.8: Representing DOE-SRS: Doug Hintze, Ron Bartholemew, Lewann Belton, and Ray Fulton. They each received a $50 Houndslake Country Club gift certificate, an engraved curved glass trophy, a nice bottle of wine, and a golf umbrella.
2nd Place Team - Scoring 56.0: Representing B&W Technical Services: Chuck Berhhard, John Myers, John Wyler, and Gary Hazelwood. Each received a $40 Houndslake gift certificate, two sleeves of golf balls, and a golf umbrella.
3rd Place Team - Neck-and-neck at 56.6: Clint Wolfe, Ron Stevens, Bob Tolson, and Jimmy Stewart Sr. Each received a $30 Houndslake gift certificate, one sleeve of golf balls, and the famous umbrella.
For the past several years, we have presented the "Last" place team with a little something to help ease the pain. The team was presented with a Houndslake Pro golf lesson and a can of beer to cry in! It was all in fun!!

Thank You To Our Many Sponsors
The first year that B&W Technical Services became the Tournament Sponsor was 2005. At that time they were called BWXT. We've come a long way since then, and want to give our most sincere thanks to their continuing to be our Tournament Sponsor. They provide each golfer and volunteer with a beautiful and useful sponsor gift each year that is well received by every one. And it looks like we are starting another tradition, with Savannah River Nuclear Solutions signing up as the Beverage Sponsor. For the second year, SRNS has provided sponsorship for us to purchase beautiful golf shirts for the players and volunteers. Our major sponsors made this event extra special, and their participation is the key to our success. Many of our golfers and volunteers commented on the wonderful gifts they received and all had a great day of fun.
Each year, individuals and businesses have the option to be a Hole Sponsor, which gives them a change to be recognized on one or more of the tees on the course. This year we had Columbia Energy, Economic Development Partnership, Longenecker & Associates, SRS Community Reuse Organization, and the WSI-SRS Team.
Many companies and businesses in South Carolina and Georgia provided gift certificates or items that we used as prizes. They are listed below:
