2012 CNTA Golf Tournament

It is with great pleasure that Citizens for Nuclear Technology Awareness reports perfect weather and another great golf tournament! The tourney proceeded on Friday, May 11th at Houndslake Country Club in Aiken with 124 golfers. Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services - Savannah River was again the primary sponsor.

A special supplement to the CNTA Aware! newsletter provides most of the news and tidbits. It shows many of the juiciest photographs, but nevertheless, a photo gallery of additional images from 2012 event is shown below. Great work by photographers John Connelly and Larry Adkinson!

1st Place Team - With a score of 55.6: Representing DOE-SRS: Greg White, Jody Waddell, Greg Junio, and Dave Hepner. These folks hailed from Savannah GA, Oak Ridge TN, Las Vegas NV, and New Ellenton SC, respectively -- So it looks like a winning effort depends on effective recruiting!

2nd Place Team - Just edged out with 56.5: Kevin Butterfield, Darren Gale, Mark Morgan, Gary Hazlewood.

3rd Place Team - Almost there with 56.7, sponsored by Newport News Nuclear: Doug Stitzel, Peter Diakun, Frank Sheppard, and Kathy Lewis.

For the past several years, we have presented the "Last" place team with a little something to help ease the pain. Scoring 66.5 was the team sponsored by Energy Solutions: Paul Young, Tommy Peel, T. J. Rauton, and Andrew Large.

Thank You To Our Many Sponsors

The first year that B&W Technical Services became the Tournament Sponsor was 2005. At that time they were called BWXT. We've come a long way since then, and want to give our most sincere thanks to their continuing to be our Tournament Sponsor. They provided each golfer and volunteer with a beautiful blue and white golf umbrella.

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions graciously served as Lunch Sponsor, and also provided golfers and volunteers with Callaway golf shirts with CNTA and SRNS logos.

Newport News Nuclear acted as Beverage Sponsor, providing beverages and snacks for players at four beverage stations.

AREVA Federal and Shaw AREVA MOX Services were prize sponsors: making it possible for many nice gifts to be given away. They also sponsored a team of Radiological Engineering students from Aiken Technical College.

Hukari-Ascendent offered their team slot to the LEAP Organization.

Team and individual trophies were provided by Trophies Unlimited.
