CNTA's 27th Annual Edward Teller Lecture/Banquet was celebrated Thursday, October 18 at the University of South Carolina at Aiken's Convocation Center in Aiken SC. The event was surrounded by many other events during Nuclear Science Week.

Our distinguished guest speaker for this year ws Dr. José N. Reyes, Jr., co-inventor of the NuScale small modular reactor.
Dr. Reyes has more than 110 patents granted or pending in 20 countries. He is an expert on nuclear plant scaling, passive safety, and testing. He is a Fellow of the American Nuclear Society and Member of the National Academy of Engineering.
A Professional Engineer, he earned a BS degree from the University of Florida and MS and PhD degrees from the University of Maryland. He is Professor Emeritus and former head of the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Oregon State University, where he was the principal investigator for the Westimghouse AP600 and AP1000 design certification programs.
Other highlights of the Teller Lecture and Dinner included the presentation of the 2018 Fred C. Davison Distinguished Scientist Award and the 2018 Robert Maher Memorial Scholarship.
